Personal Addition #17

Next week I am going on a road trip with my family and Ellie. We are driving to Minneapolis and staying there for 2 nights and then moving on to Chicago for a few days. I am very excited because I love road trips and spending time with my family. I have been to Minneapolis quite a few times but Ellie has never been to the US so I’m glad we were able to take her while she is staying in Winnipeg with us. I have never been to Chicago so I am really looking forward to that, especially because a family friend of ours moved there a few years ago and I miss her a lot!

Reblog: Six word memoir #3

I chose to reblog this because I agree. My parents do so much for me and I would not be here without them. Even though we have a lot of disagreements I know that they only want what’s best for me and are trying to support me the best they can.

This photo was taken on my 18th birthday. This memoir is for the category family. I chose the words ” Without my parents, i am nothing.” because I truly believe that to be true. My parents mean everything to me. They are the reason why i am here, and they are the reason I am who I am. They are my #1 supporters, and they push me to be the best I can be. I used a more vintage effect by turning down the saturation because i feel that it gives a comfortable setting. I chose the color red for the text because it symbolizes love.

Reblog: Six Word Memoir #6

I reblogged this six word memoir because it’s something that I often think about as well. It makes me sad to think that I won’t see my best friends everyday anymore because we are all taking different paths and working towards our own futures. Even though I complain about school and homework and everything I know that I will miss high school very much. I’ve made so many memories in the last 4 years and learned so much about myself, and I’ve become so close with people who I will never forget, no matter where we all end up.

This is another memoir about the future, because I often think about my closest friends and how we’ve all gone in different directions all over the world and doing different degrees at university and whether we’ll ever have another moment like the one when this photo was taken. We probably won’t. I made my memoir here a rhetorical question for this reason, because I already know the answer.

The words in this image are red to match the tones of the photograph and I found a font with hearts over the i’s and curls, to match the fun we’re having in the photo and love I feel for these people. I placed the words in the corner because they didn’t really fit anywhere else.

Reblog: Six Word Memoir- #5

I chose to reblog this six word memoir because I also can say that some of my best friends are my family. My cousins and I are all girls and all around the same age, so we always have a lot of fun hanging out together and when the family gets together. I’m especially close with my cousin Baylee who is one of my best friends.

Reblog: 6 word memoir- Future

I reblogged this six word memoir because I feel the same way. I don’t have any set plans for my future, all I know is that I want to travel. I want to visit as many different places as I can and hopefully experience living in numerous places.

If you have ever talked to be about my long term plans for my future I probably would have told you that “I just want to be happy and travel the world with someone I love.” Travelling the world has always been something I pictured myself doing in my future. I have changed my mind about where I want to go to school or what career path I want to pursue or even where I want to live. But my one consistent plan has been to travel. This photo was taken last spring break somewhere between Minneapolis and New York. I chose to use this picture because it fit well with the words. Trying to find a picture that represented the future was difficult but once I found this one I could picture it looking good with the words. I chose this font because it has a very…

Reblog: Six Word Memoir #5

I chose to reblog this six word memoir because I can relate to it. I have so many photos of myself and friends from middle school that are so embarrassing to look at now, but also really funny. It’s weird to see how different we were and how much we’ve changed. There are so many trends and things that we thought were so cool back then, but seeing it now all I can say is what was thinking??
I’m just glad that awkward middle stage is over…

I was just going through photos on my phone and I found this quote that I saved. I like this quote because I think it’s so important to surround yourself with people who accept and love you for who you are. The best friendships are when you can completely be yourself and not worry about being judged. I also think it’s important to choose friends who support you and affect your life positively.

I didn’t find the process of writing newspaper blackout poetry too difficult. It seemed that it would be a lot harder but once I started looking through articles it didn’t take long to make a decent poem. The difficult part for me was connecting three poems to a specific theme. When I was looking for a poem in an article I wasn’t thinking about a certain theme I was only thinking what I could make out of the words I had. I also found it difficult to create something different than what the article was talking about and to not get caught up in reading the article. I think this type of writing is unique because you have to work with what you have and be creative with someone else’s words. Its like taking someone else’s writing and turning it into something of your own. This assignment made me learn that I don’t like writing in a short amount of time. I felt kind of rushed when I was making the poems and I wasn’t as happy with what I came up with as I think I could have been. I think that having a time limit affects the way I read and think because I know that I have to be finished in a certain amount of time. Overall it was an interesting assignment and I’ve never done anything like it before!

Personal Addition #15

If you like books that deal with mental health topics and haven’t already read “It’s Kind of a Funny Story”, I suggest that you should! I really enjoyed this book because it handles the topic sensitively but also made me laugh quite a few times. There is a good balance between humour and seriousness. There was also a movie made of the book but in my opinion it is no where near as good as the book! The author, Ned Vizzini, had struggled with his own mental health, and coincidentally as I was in the middle of reading his book that deals with depression and suicide he actually killed himself. I was very sad to hear this because his writing had made a difference in so many peoples’ lives and it’s unfortunate that he is no longer able to share his thoughts with the world.

Personal Addition #14

On our last night in London we went on a Jack The Ripper walking tour. It was a lot of fun because we got to see some parts of the city we wouldn’t have normally gone to and our Ripperologist guide was really funny! We went to some of the murder sites and learned about the victims and what happened to them. I thought it was really interesting because Jack The Ripper’s identity is still a mystery and there are a lot of different opinions and theories on the story of these murders. I’m not sure what I believe to be true but its definitely interesting to think about!
